Ohio Concealed Handgun License approved as alternative to background check

Good news for (many) CHL-toting Buckeyes!  The ATF has determined that Ohioans with recently issued CHLs are less scary than others.  Customers carrying an Ohio Concealed Handgun License issued on or after March 23, 2015 can present that in lieu of undergoing a NICS background check when making a firearm purchase.  Those holding a license issued prior to that date will have to wait until their next renewal before they can present their license as a NICS alternative.  Check out the ATF Open Letter here.
*Please note that completion of a form 4473 is still required for any firearms purchase. The government still loves their paperwork.
