Velocity Works is happy to provide FFL transfer services for our customers. We will need to send your seller a copy of our FFL before they can ship out your item. When it arrives, we’ll contact you and run a background check in our shop when you come to pick up the item. When the background check clears, we collect the transfer fee, and the firearm is yours. The time from when you walk in to when you walk out with your firearm is usually less than 30 minutes. We will need a few pieces of information to get the process started. Please complete and submit the following form to get the process started. Once we’ve reviewed the form and contacted your seller, we will send you a follow-up email confirming your transfer request. NOTE: Your ID must have your CURRENT RESIDENT ADDRESS or you will need to supply further documentation (See “ID and signature requirements” below). By law, we CANNOT transfer a firearm if your supplied ID doesn’t reflect your current resident address.
NOTE: PLEASE DON’T submit this form multiple times if we don’t respond promptly, or call to see if we’ve received the form. We get approx 100+ emails per day and when the form is submitted multiple times, all it does is clutter up the inbox and delay the process. When you submit the form, the page will reload and say “your form has been successfully submitted”. When you see that, we’ve got it.
PLEASE Wait until we’ve contacted you to pick up your firearm! We get several packages daily, and it takes us time to open up all our items, log everything in, and process all the paperwork. If you come in to pick up your firearm before we’ve called you, we may have to ask you to come back later, depending on the customer activity.
NOTE: 2020-2021 has seen an unprecedented volume of background checks, which severely bogs down the system. In our recent experience, if you come to pick up a firearm for transfer after 5:00PM you will very likely get put on delay, particularly on Fridays. While we’re happy to run the check, we close at 6PM for a reason as we have families to get back to, and if the background check is still not complete by then, we’ll simply advise you that we’ll call you the next day with the status (Proceed, Delay, Deny). Thank you for your understanding. Disregard this notice if you have a valid Ohio Concealed Handgun License.
Transfer Fees
The fee for our FFL transfer service (long gun, hand gun, or receiver) is $25.00. If you have more than one firearm you would like to have transferred, the fee is $25.00 for the first firearm plus $15.00 per each additional firearm transferred in the same transaction. We must collect sales tax on all transfer fees.
Multiple Handguns:If you are having more than one handgun transferred within a 5 business day period, we are required to fill out and submit additional paperwork to the ATF that is time consuming and subjects us to additional costs. Because of the added paperwork we charge an additional $10.00 service fee under these circumstances.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to inquire at Firearms@VelocityWorks.net or 614-891-4545
ID and signature requirements
To pick up a firearm you must present a valid, government-issued photo ID including your name, date of birth, current residence address, and signature. If your current residence address doesn’t match the one on your submitted ID, you will need to also submit a government issued identification document with your current residence address. Examples of documents that may be accepted to supplement information on a driver’s license or other identification document include a vehicle registration, a recreation identification card, a fishing or hunting license, a voter identification card, or a tax bill. However, the document in question must be valid and must have been issued by a government agency.
If you possess a valid Ohio Concealed Handgun License that was issued on or after March 23, 2015, you may present that in lieu of undergoing a NICS background check. You will still have to fill out a Form 4473, but we can skip the NICS check.
It is your responsibility to make sure that the seller requires a signature for delivery from their shipper. We’ve had several packages containing firearms shipped to our shop that did not require a signature upon receipt, and were just left at the door or in our mailbox. This has especially become a problem when receiving packages from non-FFL shippers. Velocity Works assumes NO responsibility, financially or legally, for firearms that are stolen because the shipper didn’t require a signature upon receipt.
We are required by law to log in where a firearm came from, and we can not do this without the proper FFL or ID. Velocity Works reserves the right to hold transfer of the firearm until we have the proper paperwork. It is your responsibility to make sure the seller includes a copy of their FFL (if applicable) or ID with firearm shipments. This has become more of a problem with packages from non-FFL shippers.
